Client: Chiltern Rail

Requirement: Advertising Copy

Chiltern Rail

Chiltern Rail felt that its brand was positioned too much towards the concepts of 'local', 'heritage' and 'commuter'. Whilst wishing to stay true to its core market, the client wanted two through-the-line campaigns to increase awareness in Chiltern Rail's new high speed London - Birmingham service, plus the major innovations in infrastructure and technology made as a result of its ownership by Deutsche Bahn.

FST and Steffen Collings' solution was to create bridging campaigns which linked the warmth and tradition of Great Western Rail with the style and comfort of 21st Century rail travel.

Client: Valesca Borlase

Requirement: Digital Copy

Valesca Borlase

The client is a well established alternative healthcare practitioner whose clinic addresses both physical and emotional complaints. Valesca wanted the web copy to establish a comprehensive picture of her skills and treatments in a web atmosphere of calm professionalism. The client was targeting both AB1 patients who were already open to complementary medicine as well as those new to such treatments. While SEO techniques were important, the client wished primarily to use the site as a targeted introduction to a specific audience.

Teaching Awards

The Teaching Awards recognise outstanding people in education and rewards those who change lives for the better. Outstanding work goes on in schools everyday and the Teaching Awards provide the opportunity for people to shout about it.

The brief for the campaign asked Steffen Collings and AKD to:

  • Help increase awareness
  • Reinforce brand values
  • Increase the number of nominations
  • Publicise the celebration of the achievements of outstanding teachers


Client: Riverlights

Strap: Heat of the city. Cool of the river.

Riverlights Derby

RiverLights is a £100 million residential and business development on the banks of the Derwent in the heart of Derby. It is a major element in a £2 billion city wide scheme that will see Derby transformed into a major European city of culture and hi-tec industry. I was the lead copywriter for design agency Trafalgar Media who is running the marketing campaign for the residential aspect of River Lights. I was responsible for naming the two residential apartment blocks, for the banner straplines and brochure long copy:

  • Reflections @ River Lights
  • Skyline @ River Lights
  • Contemporary city centre apartments
  • Heat of the city, cool of the river

Client: Simply Run

Strap: In your stride / Where the fat comes to die.

Simply Run

Simply Run - a subsidiary company of Knight Health - is a new web based sportswear business specialising in high quality running gear and timing technology. The client wanted bold, edgy homepage copy to grab the attention of the web browser in an increasingly competitive market.

Client: St Mary's Church

Strap: Son et Lumiere: Shining a light down 800 years of history

Shining a lightOne of those lovely briefs this. The client, a freelance theatre producer specialising in outdoor and site specific events, required headline copy that would both explain this unusual 'sound and light' show to the target audience as well as captivate its spirit. The solution was to link the explanation with the spirit.

The show was a sell out.
